And by Your tremendousness, which has filled all things; by Your force, which towers over all things. Is he who has been believer like unto him who has been ungodly? Which Thou in Thy mercy hast kept secret and through Thy kindness unexposed and I pray to Thee to make my share plentiful in all the good that Thou dost bestow; in all the favours that Thou dost grant; and in all the virtues that Thou dost allow to be known everywhere; and in all the sustenance and livelihood that Thou dost expand and in respect of all the sins that Thou dost forgive and the wrongs that Thou dost cover up O’ Lord!
Who perfecteth all bounties and Who wardeth off all misfortunes! So I ask You by Your might not to let my evil veil my supplication from You, And not to disgrace me through the hidden things You knowest of my secrets Engish not to hasten me to punishment for what I have done in private: O’ Master of my freedom! When the assembly at the Mosque had dispersed, Kumayl called at the house where Ali was staying, and requested him to acquaint him with Prophet Khidhr’s supplication.

Or how should he have hope of Your bounty in freeing him from it, while You abandonest him within it? Which of the matters shall I complain to Thee and for which of them shall I bewail and weep? For You hast decreed Your worship for Your servants And commanded them to supplicate You And assured them that they would be answered. How then can I bear the retributions and the punishments of the hereafter which are enormous and of intensive sufferings, of prolonged period and perpetual duration, and which kukail never be alleviated for those who deserve the same as those retributions will be the result of Thy wrath; and Thy punishment which neither the heavens nor the engish can withstand and bear!
Englisj make me one of the most excellent of Your slaves in Portion from You. O Allah, verily I ask You with the asking of a submissive, abased and lowly man to show me forbearance, to have mercy on me.
Who originated my creation and accorded me my individuality, and ensured my upbringing and welfare and provided my sustenance I beg Thee to restore Thy favours and blessings upon me engliah Thou didst in the beginning of my life. Would that I knew, my Master, My God and my Protector, Whether You wilt give the Fire dominion over faces fallen down prostrate before Your Tremendousness, Kuail over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Unity and giving thanks to You in praise, And over hearts acknowledging Your Divinity through verification, And over minds encompassing knowledge of You until they have become humble And over bodily members speeding to the places of Your worship in obedience and beckoning for Your forgiveness in submission.
O Ample in blessings! And Allah bless His messenger and the holy Imams of dux household And give them abundant peace!
The Du’a is not an exclusively Shi’a dua, however, as none of its content is controversial among Shi’a and Sunni schools of thought. Belief in fixed predetermination suggests that a prayer cannot change God’s will, while he may grant prayers implored of Him.

And by Thy grandeur which prevails upon all things And by Thy authority which is exercised over all things And by Thy own self that shall endure forever after all things have vanished And by Thy Names which manifest Thy power over all things And by Thy knowledge which pervades all things And by the light of Thy countenance which illuminates everything O Thou who art the light!
And over bodily members speeding to the places of Your worship in obedience and beckoning for Your forgiveness in submission. O Allah, I ask You the question of one whose indigence is extreme, And who has stated to You in difficulties his need And whose desire for what is with You has become great.
And over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Unity and giving thanks to You in praise. According to Allama MajlesiKumayl ibn Ziyada confidante of Ali ibn Abi Talib had attended an assembly in the Mosque at Basra which was addressed by Imam Ali in the course of which the night of the 15th of Sha’aban a month was mentioned.
