However, this also proves to be another selfish move. From bickering to laughing to crying, Chi-Chi and Bulma go through emotionally tense times with their respective husbands. While Vegeta is seemingly uncaring towards his newly formed family in the Cell Saga, he becomes a lot kinder and caring later on. Vegeta even shows jealousy, especially when Goku mentions pawning her off on a date with Elder Kai. All in all, Vegeta seems to have a genuine interest in his wife and seems to truly love her.
Goku, on the other hand, has a one-track mind: Nothing changes after he marries Chi-Chi and starts a family with her. The perfect example is that he agrees to marry Chi-Chi because he thinks "marriage" is a food. Even when he finally goes Super Saiyan, Goku manages to ascend past this level, and when it's not Goku, it's some other half-blood Saiyan, which continues to motivate Vegeta to take it one step further. For Vegeta, his entire arc is about dealing with his own physical, mental, and emotional limitations.
